So your not a feminist…

life-is-too-short-to-belived-counting-the-years-enjoy-the-ride-and-makeamazing-memories-have-a-great-birthdayOkay I get it. You are a woman and you’re not like other women. You’ve never faced adversity so you don’t really need feminism. You don’t understand why so many women are afraid of this presidency. Seriously, he said “Grab ’em by the pussy,” and then he took away the right to birth control. We are living in a society where rape culture is perpetuated, but the president.

Okay but good for you, you are “not like other girls” because you haven’t faced any problems related to your gender, and for your sake, I hope you never do.

Here’s the thing though, I’m fighting for you. I’m fighting for your right to be a stay at home mom, your right for affordable healthcare, your right for an equal pay check, and anything else you might need that someone out there wants to keep from you.

The best thing about America (hoping it stays that way) is that we have our freedom of speech, and God gave us free-will so you really don’t need to be a feminist. I just wish you would realize what the cause actually meant.

I don’t want all of you non-feminists out there to think that I find myself better than you, I don’t, seriously. I’ve seen that comment so many places, and it’s just not true. I love you so much, I just want the best for you, your daughters, your mothers, your sisters, and any other woman that has impacted your life in a positive way.

Feminism isn’t just for women. It’s for everyone and everyone can benefit, I wish you were a feminist, and I’ll never understand those of you who say you are not, however, I will fight for you. Fight for your rights. Fight for our equality.

Remember, at the end of the day, this shouldn’t be a discussion. All people are equal, treat each other as such.

SMH America…

Today we woke up to the biggest mass shooting that this country has seen, however, it is not even close to the first one, or first one this year, or even first one this week. 50 people are dead and 53 are injured. My question is why? When will we learn?

Over 200 years ago this country was born on the principle of freedom, which unfortunately includes the right to bear arms. Well, to everyone who has a gun in their house, under their bed, locked in a safe, or in their night stand “just in case”, good for you. However, the right to bear arms was written in a time when guns weren’t automatic and it would be (as it should be) rather difficult to kill and injure of 100 people at a night club. What did these people do to this man who made him want to kill them? Yesterday morning we woke to the news that a 22-year-old singer was killed after a concert. What could she have possibly done to provoke someone who much to warrant shooting her? I believe the answer is nothing.

The world has changed since 1776. We have the internet, cars, and automatic rifles. Now, I don’t know much about guns because I find them absolutely terrifying. I understand that people need them to feel protected, but what do you need to be protected from? Other guns? Then who wins, the person who shoots first?

The evidence shows in countries all over the world, there’s a  mass shooting, so they have gun control. That is logic. I unfortunately know that we will never have as strict of gun control policies as I would like in this country. The older I get and the more I see the direction that the land of the free and the home of the brave is going, I want to leave more and more. Can we do something to prevent guns from being sold to mentally unstable people? Apparently not. The NRA pays congress members to vote against laws that would protect the average citizen from guns.

There’s a lot of things I don’t feel safe about in this world, however, none of those things would ever lead me to purchase a gun. There is nothing in me that could take a life away from someone. To be perfectly blunt, American politicians need to open their eyes, stop taking bribes, and get their shit together. People are dying from ignorance, hatred, and simply being stubborn. Sure, take your right to bear arms and please buy a musket from 1776, I would be much more comfortable with that.

Write to your senators and representatives. This country needs a change, people aren’t supposed to die like this.

Places to Move After the Elections

Well, right now, our choices aren’t looking too good for the 2016 Presidential race. Donald Trump is in the lead for the Republicans, and if you aren’t an upper class, white, man, why on earth would you vote for him?  Also, if you are an upper class, white, man, why would you vote for him? He’s crazy, racist, misogynistic, and creepy. Hilary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are nearly neck and neck, but how many college students are actually going to go out and vote? Therefore, Clinton will most likely win the Democratic Primary is my prediction. Now, I know most of you are probably college students and a lot of college student love Bernie Sanders, now if you do, and you’re mad at me for saying this, go vote in the primaries. People older than college students are not going to vote for a socialist, realistically, so if you feel strongly, vote.

Personally, I am not really feeling any type of draw towards any one candidate, or multiple candidates, I feel like no one is saying anything very productive. All I ever hear about is how crazy Trump is. So if he wins, or I’m not happy with the choice, I will most likely  move to another country.

These are the options that I find the best places to live if we end up in the worst country after the elections in the fall:

  1. Canada. While it’s cold, they have good health care.
  2. Iceland. 120 days for paternity leave which America doesn’t have any type of paternity leave.
  3. Sweden. They’ll give 56 weeks of paid Maternity leave.
  4. Ireland. Well I was just there and it’s pretty.
  5. Australia. It just seems nice there, but I’ve heard they have some issues, but I guess all countries do.
  6. Austria. Forbes.com ranks it as having the number one city in the world.
  7. Denmark. IBTimes.co.uk ranks this as the number one country in the world, based on corruption, and in this case, the lack thereof. Therefore, if Trump wins, this is where you want to go.
  8. France. If you are unemployed, they have the best benefits.
  9. Germany. If you are a college student from anywhere in the world, you can go to school for free!
  10. Switzerland. They’re always just minding their own business, maybe we should take a page from their book!

When it comes down to it, yes America is great, but with these political candidates I believe that we need some better ideas asap or we will be forced to find a home somewhere else in the world in order to live a better life. Well I mostly think that if Trump wins, but really I think it might end up being the same way for a lot of candidates. The best America has to offer needs some improvement, don’t forget to vote!

Pretty Places

Pretty Places

I don’t know what you guys think, but the US capital is one of the prettiest places in the country. DC may be a dirty city in some places, but the National Mall is something that holds beauty. This past weekend my friend Katie and I traveled to DC for a day trip. My school is not far, so we decided to take a metro. We explored places such as the Holocaust Museum, the Natural History Museum and what seemed to be a business type area where we got Nandos for lunch. It was really nice to get off campus for the day and see some of the beauty that is within the walls of our own country. Here’s my volg of our day filled with some Complete Average Adventures :)

Okay so I’m posting this before the video is up, but I’m going to do another little post with the video in it as well. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Feel free to follow me on twitter for some more of my daily adventures! This may also give you a heads up to when I will be out and about and maybe doing some vlogging! I am really looking forward to what the future is holding in this aspect and I hope you guys are too! Thanks for reading and watching, love you all!

XOXO
