Average Adventure: Brighton, England

Depending on how long you’ve been following me, you may or may not know that Brighton has been a place that I have always wanted to go, making it onto my Travel Bucket List. I don’t know when the obsession started, but the pictures I’ve seen are always just so pretty and it lived up to my expectations. Since I was in London, a short train ride away, I decided it was the perfect time to go to Brighton.

The first stop was obviously the pier. If you look up Brighton, the first things you are going to see are the Lanes and the Brighton Pier.

I also really wanted to walk along the beach. It was so, so windy that day, so I walked along the sidewalk above the beach more so than the actual beach.

Obviously these were all taken at different times of day, but I just wanted to keep going back.  It was just so pretty. The waves were super rough because of the all the wind, but it was beautiful. I saw a very unlucky man get attacked by a massive wave on the pier while he was taking a picture, and I just wanted to cry for him. I really hope his camera/phone wasn’t ruined and that he lived nearby.

This is a little bit of the lanes, but also some just random pictures I took. I can’t remember what the fancy building is, I could look it up, but I’m lazy.

These are two of my favorite signs that I have seen anywhere. I don’t know why I like the bike one so much, I just do. The other one says “I have great desire My desire is great” and I just thought it kind of spoke to me. It was in that spot that I decided to come back to blogging like full on, like obviously I’ve been blogging but I haven’t felt great about it. This was the spot where I decided that needed to change, so I just really like this now.

It was one of those places where I’ve just always wanted to go and it was just perfect. I met a nice lady in a souvenir shop where I bought a t-shirt. I explored The Lanes, admiring the Cath Kidston store where I wanted to buy everything, but refrained. I’m glad I got to check this off the bucket list.

Average Adventure: Galway, Ireland

I had no idea how behind I was on adventure posts I was until I was copying pictures from my camera to my computer and it was just a big ol’ wow.

So about four weeks ago (WOW) I went to Galway for the night, which was so relaxing and calm. I really didn’t take that many pictures, it was something that I was just that I enjoyed the moments more so. Maybe because I had my camera out the whole weekend before in Paris, or maybe I just didn’t see anything. I don’t know so here are a few of the pictures I snapped. P1100006

We did a little bus tour, it was supposed to be a hop on/hop off kind of thing but there was nowhere to really hop on or off, it was more like a regular bus tour. It was really cool though. We had incredible views of the city that we wouldn’t have gotten if we didn’t do the tour in the first place.

P1100009

We know how I feel about boats. Boats and river houses are really the cutest things ever in my opinion, maybe even cuter than babies.

P1100011

Galway is one of those picturesque Irish towns. Like if you picture Ireland, you are most likely to picture a place like Galway. Dublin is super modernized, surrounded by suburbs, which I love to live in, but Galway is still what I picture of when I picture Ireland.

P1100012

This picture was taken on a miserable Irish day. It was a complete downpour, we wanted to go kick the stone but we were all drenched and it was cold, windy, and just gross. However, I love boats, so I still took the picture, very awkwardly under an umbrella.

This is the B&B we stayed at, it was super nice, included the full Irish breakfast, the people who ran it were so incredibly kind. If you are ever in Galway, I highly recommend staying here. The room was clean, it was just a great place to stay.

So yeah, here are the few pictures I have from Galway. It was like the perfect little getaway, even though I didn’t realize that I would then be away for the next three weekends too, well I did, I just didn’t realize how much travelling that would be.

Weekly Average Adventure Log: Weeks Three and Four

Since weeks three and four have calmed down a little bit and I’m lacking in taking pictures I decided just to combine the last two weeks and just feature the days I actually took pictures.

Week Three

Tuesday

On Tuesday I was a little obsessed with the sunset outside of my window.

Wednesday

On Wednesday (and Friday) I went to the National Museum of Ireland (or something like that) for two classes. However, I hate all the pictures I took of it, so there aren’t any.

Friday

IMG_4974

We got pizza and it was delicious.

Week Four

Friday

Friday I went to the Trinity College Library. It’s perfection. It smells like books, if it didn’t I don’t think I would have believed that it was real. Apparently, they sued Harry Potter because they copied it for the movie, I think they should’ve used it as promo, but that’s just me.

Saturday

On Saturday I went to Howth. It’s a pretty little beach town right outside of Dublin, we just took the city bus there. It was amazing. Lots of sailboats, we all know how I feel about sailboats.

The scenery was also beautiful. I love beaches and the sea and just everything about it. Minus sand and seaweed. I walked on seaweed for like twenty steps and it was pretty gross.

It was such a pretty day. I like the picture that features my chipped nail polish.

Now, I promise my weeks have been more interesting than displayed, I just am not very good at taking pictures around town. I will (hopefully) get better! But for now, this is what it is. Next weekend I’m going to Paris to see my dad so that should be some cool pictures!

Average Adventure: Rehoboth Beach, DE

I briefly went to the beach the other day. I went to stay with my Poppop near Rehoboth Beach so I went to the outlets and decided just to stop over by the beach for about an hour or so. I’m not really a beach person so really an hour is all I need.  I’ve been going to this beach for as long as I can remember so for me it’s just like a walk down memory lane.

IMG_4781

I loved the SnapChat filter (mrmilligan13) so I had to take a pictures.

Here are three very similar pictures so I grouped them together. This is how I like to see the beach. From a bench, in the shade, with a breeze, but yet you can still smell the ocean and feel the beach air.

IMG_4773

Okay I realize this is a terrible picture,  but since I went straight from shopping I wasn’t about to leave my camera in my car. However, if you ever go to Rehoboth Beach you have to go to this ice cream store. It’s on the main strip so it’s easy to find but they have the biggest selection of ice cream I have ever seen. There are over a 100 flavors, these range from chocolate to boogers, so if you ever get the chance, check it out!

So here’s a super short little beach/ adventure post! Who saw the typo in yesterdays? Also, what’s your favorite beach to go to?

Late Night Blogging with Mary: Part 9

I bought a backpack today which was productive if you ask me. I also got my haircut and went to the beach. So I guess you could it was pretty productive. I’m getting very antsy sitting around and waiting for the next three weeks to pass. Today is like everyone is snapchatting pictures (you can add me on snapchat: mrmilligan13) of their packed up stuff or packing in general and I still have three weeks. However, I should get cracking on my packing because I guess three weeks really isn’t that far, it just feels very far.

I’ve been trying to DIY t-shirts for a few days now and I’m very frustrated with the process. I just do this thing where envision something and it’s just not turning out quite the way I’m envisioning it. However, once I get it right there will hopefully be a blog post on it. It was the much needed crafting session I needed though.

So I went to the beach and I went to outlets and that was all good. I actually managed to find things that I was looking for. I always seem to have the problem when you can never find something when you’re looking for it. So, I would highly recommend the Gap Factory Outlet because I got a sweater for like $13 and it was this season, just 70% off for some reason. I also got a shirt for $2 and I liked a lot more stuff, I’m just trying not to spend a lot of money since I am going away.

I finally found a decent sized backpack. Well okay, I’ve known which one I’ve wanted for a while but I just bought it so that’s good. I’m getting more and more ready to go.

Let me just rant for a minute about Josh Duggar. I’m not going to lie I used to watch 19 Kids and Counting because I love being nosey and seeing people’s lives. However, I was disgusted when I found out that the eldest son had molested five people, including some of his sisters I was very disturbed, even though it happened when he was a teenager, you still have to know it’s wrong. Also, I think the way it was handled was probably wrong as well. However, I was even more disgusted by people defending him. What happens when you defend a sex offender is that you put the victims in this shadow of that their emotional trauma and everything they had to deal with is essentially not important, which is ridiculous if you ask me. Do not defend a sex offender, even if it happened when he was teenager. I am even more outraged that no one is defending him now. More people defended him where people were not engaging in consensual relations. More people defended him when he molested his sisters and other girls. Yet where are these people when he’s cheating on his wife? Watching porn? I don’t understand how you can defend someone who physically harmed someone then say nothing, maybe even be against him when he engaged in something consensual. Yes, he cheated on his wife, yes he watched porn, and yes both of those are sins, but why is the sin of molesting people being overlooked because he asked for forgiveness and apologized? He apologized this time too, are people just not accepting it? I just don’t understand. It is very upsetting to me. I just had to share. What do you think? Am I ridiculous. I mean, I don’t think he should be defended at all but I can’t get over what people defended him for and that they all now have nothing to say.

Okay sorry about that little rant there. I just am very frustrated. I don’t understand why he was ever defended in the first place, it’s very upsetting to me. I probably just should’ve done a whole blog post about that, but whatevsss.

Rant away in the comments!

I’ve Defeated the Bikini

First of all, I know it’s really late, but I wrote a post and didn’t like so I didn’t want to post. Okay, I didn’t actually finish it but that’s okay too. I’ve also been catching up on YouTube because I was busy yesterday and today so I’m far behind and I don’t work until noon tomorrow so why not stay up super late?

After reading this article here it’s safe to say that I have not only regained my own body confidence but I’m not going to let people shame other’s weight. I don’t think it’s okay to say “oh her shorts shouldn’t be that short” or “why is she wearing a bikini?” or anything like that shouldn’t be said. You shouldn’t make someone feel bad for being confident. I remember when I came to this realization a few summers ago in the editorial section of Seventeen Magazine someone sent in a comments saying something along the lines of “I don’t understand why the bathing suits in the curvy section were all tankinis or one pieces, I’m curvy and I like bikinis.” I thought to myself, and mind you at this time I wouldn’t wear anything that wasn’t straight so I was just like okay good for you, plus I was like 120 lbs with big boobs and I just felt uncomfortable in everything. Now, that I’m a curvy girl, who maybe’s a little bit chubby bathing suit shopping is a nightmare.

I’ve been postponing this inevitable event all summer but I’m supposed to go to the beach a week from tomorrow (okay well technically today) and my friends are tiny, they are just small, people and they pretty, and that was no motivation whatsoever to try and find a bathing suit. After a full day of anxiety for no apparent reason I decided to go shopping. My youngest sister wanted to join me, her mistake, and mine. She likes to complain. We went to Walmart, Boscovs, Bon Ton, Sears, American Eagle, and finally Target. I couldn’t find one that I liked at all, let alone on me. I found two at Target but I went with the one I liked better, maybe the other one looked better on me, but that wasn’t the one I was comfortable in. I was comfortable in the one I picked.

I’m sure you guys will see it eventually see it since I have many, many trips coming up so do you know what that means? Finally some more adventure posts filled with friends and family.

So yes, once again, don’t body shame anyone, including yourself. Also, please read that attached article, it’s much better written and makes clear point rather than my jumbled up mess of words. This is why I stopped writing in the middle of the night. Please share with me your opinions of bikinis and bathing suits in the comments, I love other opinions too.

XOXO,

Mary.
