Megabus Review

As you probably already know I recently took the Megabus to Boston. I thought I could do a quick review for you guys. I went from Baltimore to Boston and back. On the way there I left at 8:30pm and we arrived 20 minutes early at 4:50am, on the way back I left at 9:30am and arrived back on time at 6:30pm.

First of all, the good about the Megabus. I reserved my ticket in January for only $2.50 round trip, if I would’ve tried to order them the next day it would’ve been $38 each way. That was a really good price and definitely within my budget, especially if something came up that weekend I would’ve been fine to cancel. The bus also has wifi, that works I would say the majority of the time, however, on the way back it was harder to use. The bus drivers for the most part are really helpful and friendly. I did not use the bathroom, but I would say the bus seemed clean to me. There wasn’t trash or crumbs really anywhere which was pretty impressive. At night they only turned the lights on when they stopped, so it did make it a little easier to sleep. It also has at least on outlet per two seats so you can charge stuff too which was really helpful.

Okay so now the not so good. On the way there, as you may know, someone took my plug and wouldn’t get off the phone, luckily they got off the bus in Philadelphia and I didn’t have to deal with them anymore.  The bus driver on the way back was very rude. He even made us climb into the luggage compartment with only one door open to try and find our bags, while yelling at us “WATCH THE BAGS!” he even took up two seats for his laptop and coat. It was also hard to sleep on the way there. Every time we stopped the lights turned on and it would wake me up. When we stopped in Connecticut it was for a half an hour, okay that’s fine, but they left the doors open the whole time and it was freezing. I had finally fallen asleep and the lights didn’t wake me up, but I did wake up to the freezing air and the smell of smoke, since someone decided to step outside and smoke, but they faced the open door. I don’t know if it was bad roads or bad driving, half the time I felt like I was just being bounced around and it was not very pleasant.  I was lucky enough to be sat alone most of the time, but when someone did sit next to me it just felt like they were on top of me and that was uncomfortable. The bus stop in Baltimore was also very hard to find, we even called the company and they just kept saying “opposite of Red Lobster” THERE ARE FOUR DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS FROM RED LOBSTER! They need better signage for their stops because it really stressed me out.

In the end, if I was paying the $2.50 I would do it again, but if I missed that deal there’s no way I would pay full price to ride it. It might have it’s benefits but at that point you might as well go on a plane and pay another $40. If you have any questions I can try my best to answer them! Thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Mary.

Double Update

By the time you are reading this I will be in NYC, isn’t that cool? I’m currently setting up 6 blog posts because I don’t know if I’ll have time to write while I’m there. So let’s go over the past couple weeks.

As you know from yesterdays post I recently ventured to Boston with my friend Lindsay (don’t forget to check out the video, link in yesterday’s post). It was a grand old time. I’m not going to go into detail there because you already read all of that. So that week just had a lot of stuff going on as did this previous week. There’s just so much stuff to do and this week was rough just because I had to play the waiting game a lot which was awful. I hate the waiting game. I did get my free shirt from Jawbreaking which was awesome ( it’s featured in yesterday’s post). You guys should go checkout their website, loads of cool stuff and Sunday’s are Fundays so they have sales along with free shipping across the country. This is not a brand deal though, I wish it was that would be awesome. Anyway, back on track, not much else happened.

This week, I mean you know at this point that I’m in New York. I’m there for Model UN oh what fun. Hopefully it goes well, but we shall see. I had a ton to do yesterday before I left so hopefully it all pays off. After that I get back Thursday after classes and then Friday I have to go to my classes before I rush home for the weekend for Easter. I CAN’T WAIT! I miss my family. I just need to get home. I have to work Saturday and then go to mass Sunday for Easter and then to my grandparent’s for some meal, I’m not sure which one, I’m really out of the loop on details. I’ll get to see my family for a long time in a while and I can’t wait! I miss everyone  a lot.

Okay so that’s it, really short for two weeks but I can’t focus and I have a ton to do. This is also weird writing a day in advance and it’s confusing me. Thanks for reading! Wish my luck while I work during the conference.

XOXO,

Mary.

Average Adventure: Boston

Okay so incase you guys don’t remember my super excited posts about getting to visit Lindsay, I went to Boston last weekend! I thought I would share this adventure with you guys through a video as well as pictures with more details! So check out the video on my YouTube channel, here’s the link: Boston I hope you like it. Feel free to subscribe since I will be posting DAILY videos over the summer. I’m going to try out the whole daily vlogging thing in addition to daily blogging, in addition to maybe two jobs if I don’t get full time at the one I already have. There’s a way to keep busy. Anyway, on we go! There’s a lot but some of them I’m really proud of so try to look at them all please!

IMG_2591

Rain in Philadelphia from the bus. If you want to see cooler bus pictures, there’s footage in the video. They liked to keep the lights on, don’t worry I’ll have a Megabus review later this week. For the parts of the journey that I was awake it was very nice drive in which I enjoyed Camp Takota.

IMG_2595

Waiting for the Subway, it literally took forever. I’m exhausted, I had gotten off the bus at 4:50, picked up my bag, found a bathroom and had to try and find my way to find the subway, let me tell you this was not easy. It was even harder when I got off and I had to think, left or right, so I went right. Wrong way. I walked a few blocks before I decided to turn around and as my luck goes if I would’ve gone left I would’ve walked around a sign thing and there would’ve been Starbucks.

IMG_2598

So this sunrise started at about 6:45 after being in Starbucks for like 45 minutes I at least got to see the beauty of the city. This Harvard Square by the way, that’s where the shuttle from Lindsay’s school and picks up/drops off.

IMG_2606

After going back to her room for a little to drop off my stuff and relax and rest we went out for lunch to Quincy Market for lunch where I got cheese pizza. The guys across from us were disgusting.

IMG_2608

Lindsay told me what this was but I already don’t remember. Sorry pal. But it looks really cool. Maybe it was the first courthouse in Boston, but don’t quote me on that!

IMG_2610

This was taken on our two mile walk to Brandy Mellville to get free sticker. I’m all about free. This is a row of houses that faces a park.

IMG_2611

This was a cool building. Lindsay told me to take the picture and then called me a tourist, which I was, but she was being rude. Rude, rude, rude.  But ooo look pretty, also it’s not warm like picture makes it seem, it was very cold.

IMG_2612

It was cold in Lindsay’s room but we both did our makeup so she wanted to take selfies.

IMG_2616

This is a boxer, who’s name I don’t remember. Over break we were supposed to take selfies with statues but we ran out of time, so we did it in Boston. Admire my new prescription sunglasses, I can now see in the sun without squinting.

IMG_2618

There’s the North Church and you can kinda see Paul Revere. We were going to walk the freedom trail but we decided not to.

IMG_2619

Well we tried to take a picture with Paul Revere and his horse, but instead I accidently cut off his head.

IMG_2621

This is a picture of the Harbor and there was a park around here. We stumbled upon it while exploring, it was very pretty.

IMG_2622

This was an archway that looked pretty. Look how blue the sky was it was so beautiful. I wish those people weren’t there though, they ruined the picture.

IMG_2623

This is supposed to be a selfie with Christopher Columbus. Lindsay is supposed to be pointing at it, and his head is supposed to be in the picture too.

IMG_2627

Well the panorama picture didn’t work out the way I wanted it to, but it’s still a cool picture of the water. This was our last adventure of the whole trip, how sad.

IMG_2630

Here I am with the city in the back ooo lala. I’m wearing my Jawbreaking shirt that I won from their Instagram contest which is super cool. I just really like this picture too.

IMG_2632

Just another scenic picture of the city.

IMG_2636

We found this sandwich place and it was so good. Chicken pesto with mozzarella, was so delicious. Yum, yum, yum.

IMG_2642

I got a whole table to myself until New Jersey on the bus and it was so lovely to be able to spread all of my stuff out.

Okay sorry this wasn’t very detailed. There’s only so much you can say when you’re looking at a picture. I’m so glad I got to go visit my best pal. Thanks Lindsay! Thanks for reading everyone!

XOXO,

Mary.

Post from the Road

As I’m writing this post I’m currently in a parking lot on a bust that should be enroute to Boston. I have already realized that I did not pick a good seat. Right now there is no one sitting next to me but I think someone might end up there. The lady in front of me has already stolen my outlet and I might have to ask her to move her bags to use hers because she’s not the only one on this bus double decker bus. I swear if she puts her arm back here one more time I may or may not lose it.  She has already answered her phone two three four times, they weren’t going to let her on for some reason, I wish they didn’t.  Once I return I will do a formal review of my bus experience.

I thought since I’m writing this whilst traveling, I would share with you why I believe I started traveling in the first place.

When I was about three my dad’s side of the family went to Disney World, at the time the only kids were my cousin Chris and I. There are only a few very specific things, having a candy lipstick on the plane, crying when they sang happy birthday to me because it wasn’t my birthday it was my cousin’s they just didn’t want me to feel left out, and going to some Medieval dinner thing. That’s the first vacation I really remember.

As I got older, and my sisters starting coming along we used to go to my Grandmom’s beach house for the week (I think). My first really big vacation that I remember was going to Bush Gardens, it was really cool and we’ve actually been back since. All of these vacations were great, but I think the only that really did it for me was a road trip right before the fifth grade. We went up to Niagara Falls, which at the time didn’t impress me very much, but since returning I really like it. From there we went to Cleveland, Ohio namely Cedar Point Amusement Park, I know we were somewhere in Kentucky for a night, we went to Graceland, visited our friends in Tennessee, and went to Washington D.C. We were probably a few other places too but that was nearly ten years ago and I’m having trouble remembering. I think it was that road trip that really led me to my appreciation of travel.

The push and start of wanting to travel for the rest of my life started when I went to Europe the summer before my senior year. I had always been really interested in travelling but I never thought that’s something I would consider when trying to find a major. It was there I really discovered my love for the world and other cultures. That’s where I found my love for exploring cities, finding little things that people would overlook. I had become enlightened and fascinated with the world around me.

Now, a year and a half later nothing has changed. I want to see as much as I can. Junior year I’m going to study abroad and explore some more nooks and crannies of the world. Post-graduation I want to maybe go and do something like the Peace Corps. to try and change the world a little bit. The more I think about how big the world is, the more I want to see it. It makes me think that you really can’t waste anytime, every second is a moment that counts. Maybe by the time I’m aging the average life expectancy will be higher and it’ll give me more time, but I’m still going to explore as much as I can while I’m young. I’m going to try and take every opprotunity I’m given (if I  have the financial support, I need a job next year) and make the best of each one.

So hopefully this lady hangs up her phone, I can watch some YouTube videos, and get some sleep. I might not be able to post tomorrow, but here’s the warning! Thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Mary.

Bland Update

Okay well this past week was blah. I started the week with exams in Arabic and Bio and then the rest of the week is kind of a blur to be honest. I left Friday after my lab and got home. Katie came over and we went to Dunkin (of course). Saturday came with work and the wiffle ball tournament, as well as a trip to Starbucks with some of my best friends from home, Katie, Alex, Hillegas, and Alex’s girlfriend Brittney. That was… Fun. For some unexplained reason I seem to be a threat to relationships. I am not. I AM NOT A THREAT TO ANY RELATIONSHIP EVER BOYS DO NOT LIKE ME! Then today I had some more work and went to the best ice cream place in all the land and then I had to drive back through all sorts of storms like ice, rain, snow. It’s almost freaking April and the plows were out, do you hear me screaming?

Okay last week was annoying but this week is going to be so much better. First and foremost it’s a four day week, so no lab, praise Jesus. I leave Thursday night for Boston, which I can’t freaking wait. I’m meeting Lindsay Friday morning which is yay! I haven’t seen her in two weeks! But then we’re going to (I’m going to leave this here because I think it’s humorous that I decided to stop and take a shower mid thought and now I don’t know where that was going). Basically we’re going to explore the city and Saturday we’re meeting another one of my friends for breakfast. Then Sunday I shall return here. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to blog Thursday, the bus is supposed to have wifi but if it doesn’t work then I’ll make up for it, promise! I might be vlogging the trip so that would be cool so I’ll let you know! Thanks for reading and sorry for another super short post two days in a row.

XOXO,

Mary.

My Happiness

Okay so this has to be quick because I want to finish my lab report by midnight. First and foremost, not one of you asked me a question so none of those to answer. Just saying I asked nicely. Anyway, so today I’m just going to do an opposite of a rant to reverse my bad mood. Basically I’m just going to write a list of things that I’m happy about.

  1. This time next week I will be on my way to Boston.
  2. I have so many good friends that I can go to with anything and they’ll listen and give honest input.
  3. My family is the strongest support system I could ever ask for.
  4. The people who aren’t supportive or loving towards me make me laugh so it’s okay.
  5. I finally got my VoxBox and I look forward to finally reviewing and taking care of it this weekend.
  6. I’m going to get chocolate cake tomorrow because I deserve it.
  7. My skin is soft.
  8. I find support and encouragement from people on WordPress who just share their story.
  9. My hair game was strong today until I took it out of the bun.
  10. I’m going to buy Camp Takota to watch on the bus next week. (camptakota.com check it out.)
  11. Some One Direction is pumping me up right now, don’t judge.
  12. I’m going to try and start reaching out to some bloggers about helping with blogvention so if anyone wants to help let me know before I start talking to others.
  13. I get to see little Alex on Saturday who is now not so little.
  14. I only have to work for a few hours this weekend.
  15. I think I’m going to start daily vlogging even though no one really encourages it, I still want to do it.
  16. Getting on here everyday and seeing new followers or likes, or comments just makes my day and puts a smile on my face. Blogging is one of the few things in life lately that make me happy.
  17. It’s supposed to be warm again this weekend.
  18. Easter is less than a month away, which means french fries are less than a month away.
  19. Less than two months of classes before summer.
  20. As soon as I get a better job I’m going to convince my mom to go to the big mall with me and go on a shopping spree (not until the summer).
  21. My anxiety has been slightly better lately and I’ve only had two attacks this week. Progress is progress.
  22. When I have panic attacks they’ve been a lot shorter and I’ve been able to control myself a lot better.
  23. I should have time to finally clean my room tomorrow.
  24. I’ve completed the hardest section of my lab report.
  25. There’s been Playlist daily vlogs this week featuring lots of Zalife and Troyler, oh the feels.
  26. It’s almost baseball season.
  27. Next year my college is finally getting a baseball team.
  28. If I don’t get to go home all weekend there’s a musical here I get to see.
  29. If I get to go home all weekend I get to spend time with oodles of people I haven’t seen in a long time.
  30. The year is almost out and I’ll have four months off.

After any rough week when all you want to do is complain, what you have to do is fix what’s wrong. The hallway might still smell like burnt popcorn, I still might not be happy with my grades, and I might have two and half more pages on my lab report, but looking at the positives it can balance out. I know it’s a lot easier to complain and find things I don’t like because I do that at least once a week.

Two quick questions for people that you can answer if you want (I’m sure no one will). After knowing me (kind of) by reading my blog and thoughts, what do you think would be a good major for me? Maybe one of you can decide, plus I’m just curious as to what people think about I would be good at. Secondly is mostly for other bloggers, how many tags do you write and does WordPress develop them for you? Before I could just do one or two but WordPress would pick out key words so I never had to type them, does anyone know how to do that again? Okay so that was more like three, oh well. Thanks for reading!

Travel Bucket List Part One.

I’m having lots of computer trouble today and it’s super frustrating but I’m pressing on and I’m going to keep trying, please pray for me to stay calm. I’ve obviously expressed my interesting in traveling several times, places I’ve been, and places I want to go, but I’ve never done a formal bucket list type thing for this. I’m going to give my friend Katie some credit on this because her other ideas for me today just kind of sparked it, so yeah. Also I’m going to try and link all of the pictures I use because I know I’m not usually very good at this.  So basically I realized there are way too many places I want to go so this is only going to be part one of many.

The Vatican City is somewhere I’ve wanted to go since my grandmom went when I was younger. As a Catholic it’s pretty customary to go, but I would just love to bring Rosary beads and have them blessed by the Pope. I think it would be so cool. (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2013/02/from-vatican-city-to-castel-gandolfo-the-popes-digs/)

I want to go back to London and England in general so badly. I want to be able to see more and just explore more in general. Like the only place I have found just as beautiful is Ireland and that’s a different kind of beautiful and they can’t be compared. I just want to go so badly. (http://cdn.londonandpartners.com/l-and-p/assets/media/44128-640×360-skyline_westminster_large.jpg)

This is going to sound super lame of why I want to go to Greece, but ever since I saw “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” I have wanted to go to Greece. Like it just looks so pretty and I think it would be an awesome place to explore. (http://images-resrc.staticlp.com/C=W787,H759,X0,Y0/S=W394,H380/http://media.lonelyplanet.com/a/g/hi/t/0f2c67422f7238c11015052e50d5850d-top-things-to-do-in-greece.jpg)

Kind of going along with the movie theme, I have wanted to go to Rome ever since I saw “The Lizzie McGuire Movie.” I was and kind of still am a huge Hilary Duff fan. It also just seems really surreal and I want to go and see it badly. (http://cdni.condenast.co.uk/646×430/o_r/rome_cnt_24nov09_iStock_.jpg)

I want to go exploring the nature (yes, I did say nature) in South Africa. Every time I see pictures of the nature and mountains there I want to go exploring. Also I really want to go on a safari and I heard you can do that there. Plus it’s like one of the safest countries in Africa so yeah. (http://www.theodora.com/wfb/photos/south_africa/natal_watsonia_jonkershoek_nature_reserve_stellenbosch_western_cape_province_south_africa_photo_friedrich_von_horsten.jpg)

Okay so here’s something a little closer to home, Charleston, South Carolina.  My parents have gone a few times I think and my sisters have been there, so it’s only fitting that I should get to go too. It just seems really pretty and a chill place to visit. (http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/ef/85/49/the-battery-charleston.jpg)

Well I’m not sure if you can call this part of my bucket list because I’ve been there and I’m going in a little over a month. This is going to be AMAZING! I’m going to visit my best friend Lindsay and we’re going to have so much fun! I’m going to make her explore the docks, the city, and everything. I love exploring.  (http://www.bostonglobe.com/rf/image_r/Boston/2011-2020/2013/09/01/BostonGlobe.com/Metro/Images/boston-big.r.jpg)

Okay well this is it because I have my freaking Saturday environmental seminar thing tomorrow so I have to go to bed now. Something cool tomorrow hopefully, maybe part two since Saturday is adventure day. Anywho, thanks for reading guys!

Planning My Next Adventure(s)

Let me just fast forward through February and March and into April so that I can get to my adventures. The first weekend in April I’m making the journey to  Boston to visit my friend Lindsay and I can’t wait. I got a really cheap overnight bus ticket so I’m looking forward to that. So I’ll be spending the weekend with her and doing stuff in Boston. She named a few places that we’re going to go to but I don’t really remember. I’m just excited because I love cities in the north, they’re so pretty, they could give cities on the west coast a run for their money- however, I’m still a fan of San Francisco and Seattle more so. It will totally be worth the long ride, hopefully it’s not too crowded and it won’t affect my anxiety, and most importantly, hopefully I can sleep. I also would like to do some vlogging on this trip so hopefully Lindsay won’t mind and I can get some good footage. I will sure to take a lot of pictures and do a proper blog post on traveling again because I have for sure been lacking on adventures and I hate that.

So what else is bringing you ask? Well I am going to New York for Model UN, and I’m a pretty excited for that as well. It is for a grade, and basically all work as well, but we do have one night off to go out, which I will love. I’m not super good friends with anyone that’s going which makes it a little bit more difficult, but I think I’ll have fun either way. I really want to Central Park and spend a good amount of time there, maybe work on some of my writing, I mean I do write stuff other than blogs. Or would that be too super cliche college hipster girl for me? I’m not a hipster you know. So hopefully I can get some cool city pictures too and stop stealing a lot of the ones I use off of Tumblr. Anyway, I can’t wait to finally share some adventures with you guys again! This is getting boring up in here! We need some change guys! So more of that to come in tomorrows update- beware it shall be a long one.

Almost Done.

I can’t believe that break is almost over and I didn’t even do half the things I wanted to do.  I didn’t have nearly as many sleepovers or good times with my friends, about halfway through break I realized that I wouldn’t be able to read all the Harry Potter book I had to settle with the last one, I didn’t crochet at all, and I didn’t film nearly as many videos as I wanted to. I thought maybe the anxiety attacks would stop, but they didn’t, so that’s another stress to go back to. I can honestly say I don’t want to go back to school. There are some benefits of returning, like no work, but I kind of want a job because the money would be nice. It’s also nice to be away from home, like the town. I feel like when I go back this time I’m going to be a lot more homesick just because I don’t want to be there. I feel like this semester is going to be super crazy and stressful with a full class load, along with a four day trip to NYC (hopefully) with MUN, a long weekend visit to Boston to see Lindsay and obviously several visits home for not just work but occasions like my sister’s birthday, a wiffle-ball tournament, Easter and spring break (is now an appropriate time to start the count down?) so hopefully all of these exciting things will help the semester will go quickly and May 9 will come quickly and I will be home for a good three, almost four months. So next will be here soon sadly and I hope I will have a post, but I will also be getting settled into my dorm once again so it might be a little bit harder to blog but then I will hopefully be able to make it up hopefully.

So a little idea I just thought up for tomorrow’s tag Tuesday, would anyone be up for a question and answer? If so ask any questions you may have for me in the comments and whether or not tomorrow is long enough to be a Q and A I’ll answer it!

XOXO

Mary
