I’m Craving Adventure

I live by this quote.
I live by this quote.

It has been seven months since I’ve had a good adventure, and that was a trip to the beach. I’m hungry for an adventure. To be honest, I’m not good at this whole doing school work thing. I don’t like it. I’m not a paperwork kind of person. Sure I like sitting around the house as much as the next girl, but I’m getting really tired of it. I started this blog with the idea that maybe soon I’d be posting weekend adventure to downtown, D.C, and Baltimore, but no one wants to do that sort of thing. I’m getting so tired of doing nothing all the time.

This just leads me to thinking about the future. What if I get a real job this summer? I can’t take time off to go away somewhere random for a week. I need the money and taking a week off is expensive. Also what it comes down to is where do I go? The beach with my friends or whatever my family is doing? There is no way I can afford to do both. Then I start thinking, well what about what I want to do? I could get a job in another state maybe, but then there’s the problem of housing, which is another expense and the money is better saved than spent. I go through all of these things in my head and what it comes down to is what is the best for me? I mean I’m to the point now where my parents can ask me to do one thing or another, or advise me, however they aren’t going to tell me what to do about things like vacations (at least I don’t think so). I even consider sometimes just going on an adventure alone because that sort of thing can be just as fun.

Then I think to the future that’s even further down the line, how in the world am I going to have a steady job if I can’t even go half of a year of school without an adventure? People don’t live life like that. I can’t spend my life in a nomadic fashion like I would like to.  I like to write stories about women that I want to be like, but they could never be more than a dream persona. A successful person doesn’t pick up odd jobs in random cities, well not enough to live off of, to be successful you have to have a steady job with a steady income. To someone like me this is super stressful and I don’t know what to do anymore. Am I going to live the rest of my life just lusting for an adventure? That’s what it’s starting to feel like. I want to be the type of person who gets on sites like kayak, and travelocity and find last minute travel deals and explore a new city on random weekend. I would love to be that person that goes on the megabus site and buys tickets for $2.50 months in advance to the point where I’m in a new city every weekend. Yet that’s no way to live a life, so I can’t really chase my dream because it’s impractical. It makes me sad to look forward in time and see that I might not be happy with the way I’m living it because I can’t live up to my dream.

And this is what I get for wanting one adventure. I can’t wait to go to Boston and New York in April, because that is exactly what need right about now. Who knows, maybe I’ll be on one sooner than that, the wander lust always seems to get the better of me.

If anyone has advice for someone like me, please let me know! It would mean the world to me if someone could give a little sliver of advice. Thanks for reading!

XOXO

My Irish Adventure

Okay, so I promise I didn’t intentionally not write a post yesterday, I ended up working a double/overnight and I did try writing a post on my phone, but that didn’t work out too well since phone screens are rather small and the internet at work is slow and I was extremely tired. Oh also I didn’t do anything too exciting this past week to be considered an adventure, so I’m going to a do a little spurt on the time I went to Ireland this summer. Now before this would have been considered a “Pretty Place” post, but with the name of my blog I decided to change it to “My (blank) Adventure” so yeah.

Okay so first picture is from a lock bridge in Dublin, which has to be one of my favorite places in the world. Not the lock bridge but Dublin. It’s super pretty and it’s filled with culture, and rather than huge chains of restaurants, Dublin has a lot of pubs, small restaurants, and boutiques, that I think makes it seem like a more genuine place. It is one of the biggest cities in Ireland, if not the biggest city, and I felt so safe there, there was never a place that I walked that I was like, whoa I shouldn’t be here, everywhere I went I felt surrounded by the kindest people.

This picture was taken at the Cliffs of Moher, which was just filled with breath taking beauty.  It was a very surreal experience however, there were suicide prevention signs everywhere which made the experience kind of sad but other than that my cousin and I had a wonderful hike.

Okay well unfortunately I have no idea where I took this picture, but I love it because I believe that it captures the essence of Ireland almost perfectly. One of my favorite things in Ireland is that it’s exactly how you imagine it to be, little villages filled with pubs and wonderful, whole-hearted, and kind people. If I had to choose anywhere to live not in a city, it would have to be in Ireland. It is just sheer beauty and contains everything good in the world.

Anywho, this is my Irish adventure, well the second. I have been fortunate enough to be able to visit twice, once with People to People and the second time with my grandparents and cousin. Both were amazing and beautiful trips and i loved both of them so much.  I hope you like this new segment, it’s a little different than the “Pretty Places” ones and this is how my Saturday post will be formated probably.

I also wanted to add another New Year’s goal, which is try to make a difference in someone’s life once a day, even if that’s just putting a smile on someone’s face. Completely off topic, I know but just want to keep you in the loop.

XOXO

Pretty Places: My Hometown

Pretty Places: My Hometown

I don’t know if I have ever put it out there but I am not exactly a fan of where I’m from. I was born and raised in Lancaster County. This past weekend I took a visit home with one of my friends. She is from Maryland so I decided to show her around the touristy town of Intercourse. Yes, that is a town name and it is where a lot of the Amish live. To be honest I have no idea why on earth anyone would want to name a town Intercourse but that’s Pennsylvania for you.
Even though I don’t like it where I live, I have to admit is a very beautiful place. The farm land, hills, changing colors in the trees, and sheer beauty of the land itself is actually amazing. Sometimes I lose myself in the beauty. I don’t really know what else to say, but if you guys have any questions on the Amish or Mennonites that occupy my area I will try my best to answer them. Pretty Places: Washington DC

Pretty Places: Washington DC

So guys I am super excited because at this very moment my first Pretty Places vlog is in the converting process! It should be posted very shortly! I don’t think I can even begin to express how excited I am for this! I hope you guys are at least looking forward to it a little bit, the editing and just a lot of things weren’t working out but I finally got everything to work!

So about two weeks ago my friend Katie came down to Maryland to visit me at school for the weekend. We had all day Saturday to do something fun so we decided to take an adventure into Washington DC. We drove to the nearest metro station and took that into the city. As many people know, our country has a lot of problems. This was also right after the government shut down, however with all of these problems we still manage to have an amazing capital city. We went to the holocaust museum, the natural history museum, and Nandos. It was really just awesome to get away for the day with one of my best friends.

Thanks again for reading, and I hope you enjoy the video :)
