Average Adventure: Nashville, TN

Untitled

At the start of August, my family traveled from Pennsylvania to Tennessee for the wedding of a family friend. The wedding was just outside of Nashville, so before we headed to the town of the wedding we spent a few days there.

P1110356

What I found really cool about the city was the combination of new and old architecture.

P1110359

I think this AT&T building is probably one of the coolest buildings I’ve seen. It’s just so different. It kind of reminds me of a castle for some reason.

P1110302

Another view of the same building I believe.

P1110295

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen (maybe I haven’t noticed) a coffee bar before. Of course I had to go, it was pretty good. I did find the guys working super nice and the interior was pretty cool. It was right on Broadway, which is pretty  much the main tourist street in the city.

P1110362

There are a lot of Honky Tonks in Nashville, I’m not sure what it is. We did go to this one, one evening because the live music was really good and not too country for my family. It was interesting because they had two live bands one downstairs and one upstairs, the one upstairs is what we heard from outside and the one that made us go in. If you were inside you could only hear the one on the floor you were on which I don’t know how that works but I thought it was really cool.

P1110366

Think of the max number of boot stores you could picture at one time and triple it. That’s the number of boot stores in Nashville. Seriously it’s insane. My youngest sister was annoyed every time I asked if she wanted to go in to one. We actually didn’t go in to any but cowboy boots are super expensive so I didn’t really need to.

P1110324

I love fluorescent lights at night. Like signs like this make a city great in my opinion. It helps it to stand out and gives it a different charm.

P1110326

This picture is not about the fluorescent signs, but rather the amazing chocolates that this shop sells. I got the peanut butter flavor, and as a peanut butter lover, really the best option. I’d say better than a Reese’s.

P1110384

We drove here, it is a replica of the Parthenon and it’s super cool but you do have to pay to get in.  They filmed some parts of the Percy Jackson movies series here.

P1110383

Sneak peak of my favorite outfit post to come!!

P1110373

This was inside the of the Parthenon and this is Athena (which in the Percy Jackson movie held the ball thing). Just super cool. Thought it was nice and shiny.

Overall it was a really nice trip. It was also nice for me to get away since I didn’t do a major vacation this year. The car ride was long but it was worth it. Highly recommended weekend trip. I think it would be a little bit nicer (and cooler) for a fall trip rather than early-mid August, but still it was fun. Also getting to see old friends and going to the wedding was super nice and fun too.

Average Adventure: Rehoboth Beach, DE

I briefly went to the beach the other day. I went to stay with my Poppop near Rehoboth Beach so I went to the outlets and decided just to stop over by the beach for about an hour or so. I’m not really a beach person so really an hour is all I need.  I’ve been going to this beach for as long as I can remember so for me it’s just like a walk down memory lane.

IMG_4781

I loved the SnapChat filter (mrmilligan13) so I had to take a pictures.

Here are three very similar pictures so I grouped them together. This is how I like to see the beach. From a bench, in the shade, with a breeze, but yet you can still smell the ocean and feel the beach air.

IMG_4773

Okay I realize this is a terrible picture,  but since I went straight from shopping I wasn’t about to leave my camera in my car. However, if you ever go to Rehoboth Beach you have to go to this ice cream store. It’s on the main strip so it’s easy to find but they have the biggest selection of ice cream I have ever seen. There are over a 100 flavors, these range from chocolate to boogers, so if you ever get the chance, check it out!

So here’s a super short little beach/ adventure post! Who saw the typo in yesterdays? Also, what’s your favorite beach to go to?

Average Adventure: Harry Potter World, Universal

So it’s been over a month since my family vacation now and I still haven’t finished my adventure posts. So far I did one on Animal Kingdom and the Lodge. I just haven’t had the motivation to edit my pictures. I really just need to sit down and do them all. I have however, finished a bunch of pictures from Harry Potter World, which was awesome.

P1080459

This is a really cool view (in my opinion) of Hogwarts Castle. It is among a bunch of other attractions but I like how it’s right and the middle and really stands out.

P1080457

This is the Knight Bus, and it was very realistic. However, it was a pain to get a picture of because there was an official line of people constantly waiting to get a picture with it instead of of it.

P1080408

This is really cool. This is 12 Grimmauld Place and every few minute Kreacher peaks out of the window which I find very in character and a great touch for the park.

P1080403

This is the side of Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes building which I just thought was super cool and fitting. Everything was made with such details it was amazing.

P1080392This is the Gringotts Dragon that breathes fire. You can also see the Butterbeer store as well as the book store.

P1080361

Here’s a picture that focuses more on the signs rather than the dragon.

P1080355

Here is a better picture of the dragon, and Gringotts.

P1080381

Knockturn Alley. It’s air conditioned to feel cold like you would expect Knockturn Alley to feel like. It was creepy, there was Bellatrix Lestrange wanted posters that actually moved. It was so cool. The pictures were hard to get though because it was dark like it should be.

P1080360

This is the Leaky Cauldron, which we actually got to eat at and it was super cool. We had Wizard  sodas and some different foods.

P1080443

Platform 9¾. Super cool. Hogwarts Express goes between the two parks and ends in the two Harry Potter sections. The ride is complete with Wizard World scenic videos.

Harry Potter World is super cool. If you get the opportunity GO. It’s amazing.  I will be uploading more pictures of my Flickr once all of my vacation pictures are edited (hopefully within the next week or two).

Average Adventure: Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge

So I’ve edited a few more pictures from Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge and I decided that there are way too many for just my blog. So the rest (of the ones I like) will be up on my Flickr within the next few days. To be honest, I’m not fully sure how that website works, but here’s the link for it: My Flickr.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the trip. Honestly, most of them are giraffes (if not all). I’m literally obsessed with them. These are also just from the ones I have on my computer so far, there’s like another 500 on my camera from all of the places we went.

P1080325This was from the balcony of the room we stayed in. When I say this was a dream come true for me, it really was. For as long as I can remember I have always loved giraffes, I remember being like three or four and my aunt trying to figure out what sound they made before we went to the zoo. I’m not sure if that was the moment that they became my favorite animal, but that’s the first time I remember loving them.

P1080298

Again this was taken from the balcony. I found it really cool how they fed the animals. They put food in the most random spots for the animals to get, it was hilarious watching the giraffes trying to pick food up from the ground.

P1080255

Another one from the balcony. I cannot get over how majestic and beautiful they look just walking around. I would never get tired of looking at them, I could sit on that balcony for hours no matter how hot it was. It was incredible.

P1080251

It’s just amazing what they can do. They just reach up to the trees and eat. It’s breathtaking.

P1080228

This was the window on the Safari tour in Animal Kingdom. I thought it looked cool and kinda old, and kind of also a little authentic.

P1080198

Here’s an elephant to break up all the giraffes. They were also pretty cool on the Safari, but not as exciting for me.

P1080179

This was also on the Safari. It was a little harder to get pictures there because of the jerky movements. I was so happy in the moment, the one on the left is a baby. They might both be babies, but for sure the one on the left is.

P1080178

If I would’ve been sitting on the other side of the bench during the Safari I would have been able to touch this one. On my bucket list is feeding one, touch one would also be amazing. It was so close to the jeep/truck/tour vehicle.

P1080136

This is from the walkout section of the hotel. It’s like this area where you can get the closest to the animals at our section of the hotel (we stayed in the newer “Kidani Village” area). I got some really amazing shots there.

P1080129

The interactions among the giraffes were so peaceful. The zebras were ramming heads so were the other animals I didn’t care as much about, but the giraffes just grazed gracefully.

P1080128

Sometimes they would just walk places together or run around together. I thought it was really cute.

P1080122

I can’t get over how pretty they are.

P1080121

Okay so as not to overwhelm this is the last one I’ll post. I just love the patterns and the details that they possess. It’s just pure and complete beauty that they are completely unaware of, it’s just breathtaking.

I will be uploading all of the pictures at once onto flickr so it probably won’t be for a few days, but keep a look out for those!

I Went Outside.

The other day I went hiking with Margaret and Katie and I took some pictures that I thought I would share. I guess sometimes it’s nice getting outside, no matter how hot it is or how much I hate sweating (a lot), the view can be worth it.

Then I had this problem of not being able to choose a favorite edit because that’s something I’ve been toying around with lately.  I’m obsessed with the website “PicMonkey” and there are a lot of free services or you can pay for more like per year or month or something. I just love messing around with how a picture looks, like sure it looks great normal but pictures can look really cool if you mess around with them.

So basically this was my favorite picture but I couldn’t decide which edit I like the best, I narrowed it down to these five. I don’t know why I love the picture so much, but it’s just one of those ones that I just love.

So go outside and take some pictures and try to enjoy the summer.

Megabus Review

As you probably already know I recently took the Megabus to Boston. I thought I could do a quick review for you guys. I went from Baltimore to Boston and back. On the way there I left at 8:30pm and we arrived 20 minutes early at 4:50am, on the way back I left at 9:30am and arrived back on time at 6:30pm.

First of all, the good about the Megabus. I reserved my ticket in January for only $2.50 round trip, if I would’ve tried to order them the next day it would’ve been $38 each way. That was a really good price and definitely within my budget, especially if something came up that weekend I would’ve been fine to cancel. The bus also has wifi, that works I would say the majority of the time, however, on the way back it was harder to use. The bus drivers for the most part are really helpful and friendly. I did not use the bathroom, but I would say the bus seemed clean to me. There wasn’t trash or crumbs really anywhere which was pretty impressive. At night they only turned the lights on when they stopped, so it did make it a little easier to sleep. It also has at least on outlet per two seats so you can charge stuff too which was really helpful.

Okay so now the not so good. On the way there, as you may know, someone took my plug and wouldn’t get off the phone, luckily they got off the bus in Philadelphia and I didn’t have to deal with them anymore.  The bus driver on the way back was very rude. He even made us climb into the luggage compartment with only one door open to try and find our bags, while yelling at us “WATCH THE BAGS!” he even took up two seats for his laptop and coat. It was also hard to sleep on the way there. Every time we stopped the lights turned on and it would wake me up. When we stopped in Connecticut it was for a half an hour, okay that’s fine, but they left the doors open the whole time and it was freezing. I had finally fallen asleep and the lights didn’t wake me up, but I did wake up to the freezing air and the smell of smoke, since someone decided to step outside and smoke, but they faced the open door. I don’t know if it was bad roads or bad driving, half the time I felt like I was just being bounced around and it was not very pleasant.  I was lucky enough to be sat alone most of the time, but when someone did sit next to me it just felt like they were on top of me and that was uncomfortable. The bus stop in Baltimore was also very hard to find, we even called the company and they just kept saying “opposite of Red Lobster” THERE ARE FOUR DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS FROM RED LOBSTER! They need better signage for their stops because it really stressed me out.

In the end, if I was paying the $2.50 I would do it again, but if I missed that deal there’s no way I would pay full price to ride it. It might have it’s benefits but at that point you might as well go on a plane and pay another $40. If you have any questions I can try my best to answer them! Thanks for reading!

XOXO,

Mary.
