I really believe that compliments are fantastic and that they can honestly change someone entire day for the better. Recently I’ve really been trying to change my personal attitude to be a more positive person to an extent. During this mindset change I’ve realized that there are some very simple ways to easily change another person’s perception of themselves as well especially by giving someone compliments.
I think that people often get too caught up in the negatives about themselves. For example, I get very hung up on my eyebrows. I hate them, I hate doing them but if I don’t I have a rather disgusting unibrow and every time I look in the mirror it’s the first thing I see. Everyone has their thing they see when they look in the mirror that they touch and sigh, knowing there’s not much they can do about it so they live with something they don’t like and they often forget the amazing things about themselves.
Tell your friends that look beautiful, especially when you notice the effort they put on their hair that morning. Tell a stranger you like their dress because you really do. Don’t be afraid that people will be uncomfortable, because no matter what they probably will be because for some reason no one knows how to take a compliment, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give them. There’s nothing that can be more appreciated than a random compliment from anyone. Compliments are beautiful and wonderful, they take no effort to change someone’s day/week/month/anything better. A little effort can go a long way and everyone should make an effort to compliment people you love or even someone you don’t know.
I like to acknowledge how great someone is. Like if someone goes out of their way to make sure you know what’s going on or they invite you to hang out when people usually forget to give you a heads up, make sure you know that you appreciate that. Make sure people know that you appreciate the way that they always ask how you’re doing, Acknowledgment of greatness and kindness of others, especially when it’s constant. There is a person who is going out of their way to make you feel important. No one ever did that for me until recently and it makes a difference in my life, to those of you who do this for me, thank you.
Love the people who love you and care for you. Go out of your way to make someone be special. Anyone can make an effortless difference, acknowledge what’s right in front of you.
